And definitely something you want to address with his basals...

Good luck!

Oh, and I knew you'd posted because I subscribe to your blog via a free service called Bloglines.

It lets me know whenever any of my favorite blogs are updated. :-)Sandra Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16664436447708465809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21832370.post-34027274005025893152007-05-19T21:35:00.000-07:002007-05-19T21:35:00.000-07:00Sandra, His highs are all the time except for the ...Sandra,
His highs are all the time except for the afternoon. I am going to turn up the basals again for the morning. We saw them climb fast this morning when he got up. It was an hour later than a school day. I am wondering if the high is dependent on when he actually starts moving for the day. Is it a hormone dump that starts when he wakes up. I am going to try to increase some more for that 10:30 a.m. time frame. Since it started going up before he even ate anything, I am thinking it is a basal rate adjustment not a carb. ration adjustment. I'll let you know how it goes.

It was nice to hear from you! How did you know I posted again? Do you periodically check this blog? I always am surprised when I haven't posted for awhile, and then someone finds me.Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18164102552103801004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21832370.post-12860728803602687812007-05-19T04:43:00.000-07:002007-05-19T04:43:00.000-07:00Jenny-When are you seeing those highs? I've already increased his basal rate once. Will probably have to do it again.

I'm really thinking there's some hormonal stuff going on with these guys...

In the meantime, we've had the opposite issue during the day-- Joseph is having some nasty lows (40s and 50s).

We're giving him less insulin for meal boluses, and extra snacks (he's just so dang active), but he's still going low-- more so on warm days.

(I'm sure that rebounds from these lows are playing a part in at least some of the overnight highs we're seeing.)

Anyhow-- if you can convince Tommy to wear his CGM for a while, I'd be very interested to know if it helps you bring down those highs...Sandra Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16664436447708465809noreply@blogger.com
